Easter and Ordinary Time Banners

These two banners are also from the group of banners that I designed and made with the Arts and Spirituality group at my Field Ed church this past summer. The first is a banner that we made for Easter, depicting the rising of Christ in the morning, when the lights of the sky are just changing from the blackest moments of night to the bright pinks and oranges of the coming day. The rays and the image of the circle of light represent the light that Christ is to the world. I had considered including the image of the tomb, and the light coming from the tomb as a reminder of the crucifixion and Christ's miracle of overcoming death, but wanted the banner to be all brightness and light.

The second banner is one that we created for the liturgical season of Ordinary Time, depicting the growth and health of the church. This design shows not only the growth within each area of the church, but also that each area of growth still touches and is connected to the other areas of growth. The parts of the church cannot and should not exist on their own. We are all part of the Body of Christ, and even though Ordinary Time might be the most under appreciated part of the Liturgical Calendar, it needs to be noticed and emphasized more.
